A sharp magnitude 4.8 earthquake northwest of Húsavík this afternoon
A magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred about 20 kilometers northwest of Húsavík just before 3 pm today, the Icelandic Civil Defense reports. The source of the earthquake was about 20 km northwest of Húsavík and it was felt widely in northern Iceland. The temblor occurred due to tectonic movement east of Flatey Island.
