According to a new Rent Price Index report from Gaumur, Húsavík rents declined from 2018 to 2019 by 15,4 percent. The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic is yet to be determined. The rent prices had been on the rise for the past four years before that. Overall the price per square meter has risen by 72 percent in Húsavík since Gaumur started collecting data for the rent market.
Gaumur collects information annually from the National Registry of Iceland on the development of rental prices in Húsavík. Information on rental prices is based on registered rental agreements. The numbers are based on apartments with 2 to 6 bedrooms and ranging in size from 40 to 250 square meters.
