As a result of a surge in number of new covid-19 cases in Iceland, the use of masks is now required in all secondary schools and both of the universities in the capital area, Iceland Monitor reports. For the same reason, the closure of all bars and night clubs in the capital area, which came into effect last Friday, will be extended through September 27.
Friday last week saw the record in number of new confirmed cases, at 75, while on Saturday they were 38, and 30 cases confirmed on Suday.
The Ministry of Education posted new guidelines on Sunday, stating that the use of masks is required for students, teachers, professors and other employees of secondary schools and universities in school and university buildings.
