Húsavík’s Agnes Árnadottir was awarded the Wista Norway Leadership Award by the Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg yesterday. Agnes is the Co-founder and CEO of Brim Explorer, a company that provides ocean excursions without noise or pollution on board silent hybrid-electric ships in northern Norway.
In her speech, Prime Minister Solberg shared her experience from a trip with Brim Explorer earlier this year, and spoke of the company’s ability to adapt to the Covid-19 situation. Further she emphasised Agnes’ and Brim Explorers contribution to a more sustainable blue economy and green shipping.
From the age of nine, Agnes grew up working for the whale watching company North Sailing in Húsavík, founded by her family. She was an active participant in the company until she moved to Norway in 2008 where she began studying political science. Agnes has a strong passion for the ocean and a diverse background in climate and tourism with a focus on climate-friendly transport and energy.
