Flights to and from Iceland may come to a complete halt by the end of march, warns Iceland‘s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson. This measure, if implemented, will be part of the local and international efforts towards curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, RÚV reports.
In an announcement published on the Ministry‘s Facebook page, the Minister urges all Icelanders abroad who are planning to return to Iceland to do so immediately, as all flights to the country may well be cancelled by the end of this month. Conversely, although not explicitly stated in the Minister‘s statement, it can be inferred from this, that all persons planning to leave Iceland in the near future should do so as soon as possible, to avoid being stuck in Iceland for an indefinite period of time.
