Landsvirkjun, the national power company of Iceland, has announced that it will finish the construction of Þeistareykir road, connecting Húsavík and Lake Mývatn. The power company started the building of the road from Húsavík to service its new power station at Þeistareykir.
“The new road will open more possibilities for tourism in the area, connecting two of the most popular destinations in northeastern Iceland, through Þeistareykir, one of the most beautiful areas of Iceland,” says Örlygur Hnefill Örlygsson, president of the town council and hotelier in Húsavík.
